Adult Sunday School Classes
Welcome to Waterdam Class is designed to help you learn about our church, our ministries, and our membership. Anyone interested in learning more about Waterdam Church and the EFCA or in becoming a member of Waterdam Church should attend. This six week class meets on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am in Room 102. Please contact the church office for start date of next class.
Individuals interested in applying for Waterdam Church Membership must complete this class prior to application. However, attendance at the Welcome Class does not require that you become a member if you are not ready to do so. If you would simply like more information about our church and/or the EFCA, please feel free to register and attend.

What's In the Old Testament? A look into God's unfolding plan
Led by Russ Hummer
Much of the time we spend in the Old Testament (when we spend time there at all) tends to be either reading through it novel-style, or taking detailed looks at particular books and passages. These are great things to do, but it is also important from time to time to take a step back and look at the whole picture, to see how all the pieces tie together. This class will do just that. We will take a broad-stroke approach to the Old Testament, focusing on the key people, events, and truths that show us how God has been at work in the world and in the lives of His people.
This class is perfect for anyone who feels that they don't know the Old Testament as well as they would like, or who would like to gain a deeper understanding of God's redemptive plan and how it has been developed over time. Everyone is welcome; we would love to see YOU in Room 108 at 9 am Sunday morning!

The Essentials of Effective Prayer

Do you sometimes wonder if God hears - let alone answers - your prayers? Do you ask yourself, What's the point of praying? Do you long to experience the power of prayer in your daily life? In this study we will discover the answers to these questions as we examine what Scripture teaches about prayer and consider how to apply those truths to our own lives.
Habits Toward Spiritual Maturity - Learn the habits of life that build our relationship with the Lord. Getting a grasp on the Bible, talking with God, giving back to God, worshiping - regularly pursuing these disciplines develops habits that benefit us spiritually.

Gifted for Ministry - Focusing on the second major purpose of Waterdam Church - Community With One Another, this class will explain why we value Fellowship, then turn toward discovering how God has gifted each of us for Ministry in the church, helping us recognize how God has gifted each of us with abilities that function along with others to build up the body of Christ and to serve others in need. Come and discover your gifts!
Evangelism - Next we turn our attention to Impact In the World With the Gospel: Sharing Your Faith. The class is based on the book and video by Bill Hybels and Mark Mittelbert "Becoming a Contagious Christian". Learn how to be a contagious Christian so that together we can fulfill the mission of sharing Christ with a lost world!
The Board of Elders and Deacons would like to encourage everyone to attend as many of these classes as possible. They not only identify who we are in Christ, but also will lay the foundation for the future ministry of Waterdam Church as we unite to make a difference in our world for Jesus' sake.
