The Compassion Ministry's purpose is to show compassion by coordinating practical assistance to those in need within our congregation.
God calls us, as a church family, to support and care for one another. This is clear throughout scripture. In particular, the following passages are at the heart of the Compassion Ministry.
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." - John 13:34-35 (NIV)
"Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous." - 1 Peter 3:8 (NKJ)
How amazing it is that we don't have to figure out how we're to love one another. Christ's compassion is so great that he gave himself in whole for us; the perfect example. However, He not only gives us an example, but a command, to love our fellow believers just as He loves us. As we strive to follow His example, we aim to help others see Christ, to facilitate open hearts to Him, and ultimately to glorify God.
1 Peter 3: 8 shapes our actions in response to our church body's needs. We respond with practical assistance. Practical assistance is manifest in many ways. It is a meal for a new mom and dad, correspondence to encourage or to just say hello. Practical assistance can be a visit to someone who is homebound or ill, as well as other appropriate support. It is having compassion for one another.
Please let us know that you're interested in taking care of one another. We're asking for those of you who are willing to be available to offer this kind of support when needs arise to please call or email the church office.
Also, please keep in mind that we cannot offer any of these wonderful things if we don't know there's an opportunity to do so. So, we're asking anyone within our church body who could use a little help, or who knows anyone within our church who could, to contact the church office.

Our Praise & Worship Team at Waterdam Church leads us in worship every Sunday as we together lift our voices to the Lord in praise.
Purpose of Worship: We become like that which we worship and it is in the Worship of God that our focus is turned from the things of the world to the One who created the world. For this reason, worship on the first day of the week is the focal point at Waterdam Church and takes place on Sunday mornings.
Worship (Psalm 100:1-5, 1Cor. 10:31)
True worship involves acknowledging our proper place before the almighty God. When we worship, we are glorifying God, while at the same time placing ourselves in submission to Him. He is our Lord and our Master; we are His humble servants, whose lives are entirely dependent on Him. It is God's desire that we conduct all aspects of our lives in this worshipful manner, which makes us wholly devoted to the Lord and draws us closer to Him.
Style of Worship: Our style is a blended worship, incorporating both the contemporary and traditional. We participate in both the 9:00 a.m. service and the 10:30 a.m. service. Our rehearsals are scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 8:15 a.m., before the first service.
God has gifted each of us in unique ways to serve Him. Those gifted in the area of music will find opportunities at Waterdam Church. If you are interested in singing on our praise team, choral group and/or play an instrument, please contact Joan Emmett at joanemmett@comcast.net.
